It can be difficult to choose a photographer for your wedding day. Since you’ll be spending almost the entire day with the photographer you want, conducting an in-person or phone interview is an excellent way to ensure that you’ll enjoy their company.

Decide on your wedding photography style first, and then look for professional wedding photographers in your price range. If you’ve narrowed your choices down to two or three, ask wedding photographers these questions to see if they put you at ease. You should focus on the question “Do they care about my wedding?” that you’ve been asking yourself during the meeting and conversation.

1 | HOW MANY CAMERAS AND LENSES ARE YOU PLANNING TO BRING?

A true professional knows the significance of having backups of everything. There’s even a backup for your backups. When photographing a wedding, the photographer takes a large number of raw images and a professional photographer selects images of exceptional quality, the standard of the photos often takes precedence over the quantity.

When it comes to choosing the best lens for wedding photography, it’s also important to consider the details of the wedding you’re photographing. What is the duration of the shoot? What is the theme of the wedding? Is it a small or large wedding? Are you shooting on your own or with a second shooter? – These should be the primary concerns.

2 | WILL THERE BE A SECOND SHOOTER?

Two angles are always better than one. If you’re looking for a wedding photographer, you might be wondering what the difference is between a “photo assistant” and a “second shooter,” and whether to hire one or the other. During the day, an assistant remains with the Primary Photographer, while the Second Shooter works on her own timetable provided by the lead photographer. The ceremony, toasts, and grand exit will all eventually overlap; he or she will cover more ground and have two perspectives on key moments.

3 | HOW MANY WEDDINGS HAVE YOU DONE AND CAN WE SEE THE FULL GALLERIES?

You want someone well-versed in their field. Inquire for a full gallery! On social media, photographers often highlight their best work, but you want to make sure that the whole gallery meets your standards and is exactly what you want for your pictures! A sample of previous work will assuage your concerns about the nature of the work that will be performed at your wedding. Be sure to look at previous weddings they’ve photographed, not just their amazing photography skills.

It’s also fine to ask about their previous work experience. How long have they been photographing weddings? How many weddings do they photograph in a year? To give you an idea of how many clients they’ve worked with.

4 | HOW DO YOU BACKUP YOUR IMAGES?

This goes hand in hand with #1, any true professional knows how critical it is to have multiple backup systems. Having only one backup source for your wedding photos is insufficient. To backup, your wedding photos, consider using two external hard drives. Backing up your image files in the cloud is another important step in your backup system. Most Cloud backups are automated, so you don’t have to worry about it. Technology and backups can be intimidating.

5 | HOW AND WHEN WILL IMAGES BE DELIVERED?

You’ll want to see pictures as soon as possible, and the wait can be excruciating, months! Inquire with your photographer on how the finished product will be delivered and how long you’ll have to wait! The time it takes for each wedding photography studio to create and deliver your photos varies. So that you can handle your expectations if you know ahead of time.

Studios that do not offer post-production or color correction can try to entice you by promising that your images will be ready within a week, if not the same day. Most studios, on the other hand, might take from two to six months to create and generate their photographs.

6 | DO YOU OFFER ALBUMS?

If you’re like me, you love the feeling of tangible images in your hands and cannot wait to have a gorgeous photo album filled with your wedding photos, you should ask your photographer. A wedding album is something you will treasure, the quality feel, touch, and even smell of a newly printed album, an album, and book that are one-of-a-kind to you!

Your photographer will use high-quality printing services to create stunning albums on high-quality paper that is beautifully bound. There are several choices for album covers, including leather, vinyl, wood, and fabric, which you can explore with your photographer to make something exclusive to you.

7 | HOW CAN WE HELP YOU?

When you’re making a list of questions to ask your photographer, you may want to consider asking them what assistance they might need from you to capture your images properly on your wedding day. This will be extremely beneficial to the team!

8 | WHAT VENDORS DO YOU RECOMMEND?

We understand that planning a wedding can be a stressful experience, and because knowing what questions to ask your wedding vendors is probably not something you’ve done before, you might consider asking your photographer, who is experienced and has attended many events, who vendors you should hire or need to choose for your wedding.

9 | WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW ABOUT US?

You want your photographer to be fully focused on you. When you first meet with a wedding photographer, ask questions and share your thoughts about what you want in your wedding pictures. Photographers, on the other hand, want to know about you. Providing some key information about you and your partner, as well as the wedding you plan to have, is a great help to the photographer. So might you want to consider asking that question.

10 | HOW DO WE BOOK YOU?

This includes the booking process as well as the terms of payment. You must ensure that the package is within your budget!  You should inquire about additional costs and make sure you understand everything before signing something. Also, the cancellation policy; hopefully, this will not be necessary, but just in case!

Takeaway

You’ll be better prepared if you ask these questions before hiring your photographer. We want to make sure you have all the information you need to make a confident decision when it comes to your wedding vendors. It is an honor for us to be able to share your special day as your professional photographer. We’re looking for consistency and, of course, an unforgettable experience for all couples.
